Margaret Coates – Coordinator
Margaret Coates is the Coordinator of Lionsview Seniors’ Planning Society (LSPS). She brings with her a wealth of experience in the not-for-profit sector in the lower mainland, particularly with seniors.
The LSPS was established in 1991 to improve the quality of life of seniors. Lionsview facilitates a collaborate approach to issues facing seniors through the Seniors’ Coalition, comprising professionals, organizations and agencies serving seniors on the North Shore and addresses those issues at Seniors’ Action Tables and the Seniors Planning Table.
Margaret Coates was the Executive Director of 411 Seniors Centre Society, an activity centre for seniors in Vancouver for 14 years. In addition, she was the Executive Director and/or Coordinator of various other non-profit organizations, including a child care centre, research organization, and a family place. She was a founding member of the Maplewood Child Care Society, which built a multi-purpose facility for children on the North Shore. More recently she has been volunteering for the North Shore Keep Well Society, North Shore Community Resources Society, and Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre. Margaret offers Lionsview skills and knowledge gleaned from her previous and ongoing working and volunteering background, especially with organizational structure and with seniors’ issues.
